Thursday 20th February Damp day in Hahei!

A rare wet day in Hahei

A rich and creamy Chai Latte at Hot Waves Cafe this morning as we read the paper

Into Whitianga to New World supermarket for a little salad and fruit to accompany tonight's pizzas
Eating in last night was a good option so we will do the same today.

Into the local 'Offy' to find the local micro-brewery beer for Josh
Here they have a seperate chilled room, 3 degrees, to keep the beers and ciders so you can buy them and drink them just right!
No warm flat beer here ;-)

A very dull and damp Whitianga (pronounced with a 'F' for the Wh)
It is actually still warm but very grey

Off towards the beach front

Back to the Beach Cafe at Hahei (formerly Luna Cafe)
Chicken & Brie Paninis

This site used to be occupied by The Grange a bar restaurant with a garden very like an English pub
The Grange burned to the ground just over a year ago and this building has replaced it; it looks very ugly at the moment but  we imagine it will have some cladding soon. It is to be a Micro-brewery for Coromandel Beers and will have a food area at the back and a landscaped garden.
The owner is a Brit who moved here and found he didn't like any of the beers so made his own andd friends liked it and asked for some so he has now set up a small company making it. He is meant to have retired but took this up instead.

Pizza, a large tub of salad and a bottle of Sauvignon Blanc in our room tonight
Very nice too :-)
